About BETA Club

BETA is a national service organization. Students are selected for membership using criteria of scholarship and leadership skills and an excellent academic record. Members must maintain an A (90) average to remain members in good standing. All members are required to submit a community service record of at least 10 hours per academic year in order to remain active.  This is non-paid volunteer work for the community or others (but not family members).  Hours turned in have to be selfless service for the community or others.  If another club (Key, Booster, etc.) benefits from the hours, then it would not count.  If you'd like clarification, please ask for a handout that illustrates what can count for hours and what cannot.

SENIORS who have been members in good standing all 4 years of their high school career are honored with academic regalia at graduation. Seniors who also have excellent SAT scores are eligible for nationally awarded scholarships of up to $1000.00 if you apply & are awarded the scholarships.

FRESHMEN are only eligible for membership after Fall Semester of their freshman year because they have to establish a high school average. Freshman with an average of 90 or above will receive an invitation to join in January of Spring semester.  The BETA club realizes if freshmen only join 2nd semester, then they might not have had enough time to complete their hour requirements.  If that is the case, then they can catch up during their 10th grade year if they join again or they can volunteer during the first of their freshman year and keep track of hours to turn those in when they join second semester.

Club dues are $25 for new members (majority of this money has to be sent to National BETA office for certificate, pin, website access, membership fee) and returning members pay $15 each subsequent year.

Returning BETA members will be expected to attend monthly meetings.  First order of business is to plan for community service activities. Please listen for announcements reminding you of meeting dates.
